This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. In South Africa we are celebrating through Group, District, Regional and National events. But, if we really want to know why Cubbing Rocks, who better to ask than the Cubs themselves….
We spoke to Khataza Phakula (10) from 1st Burgersdorp Cub Pack in Limpopo.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
It is amazing because I have learnt a lot of new things.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experience was hiking to a wild area while observing birds.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
I ate rolls.
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
An obstacle course we did at one of our pack meetings was very challenging.
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The most amazing place we visited with Cubs was Vunza swimming place.
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learned about fire, how to tie my shoes and the National Anthem.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
Cleaning our street and making sure that it is always clean.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I showed my mum the Kims game-taste, I love it.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is a person who treats everyone fair and equally.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is a friendly person.
