100 years of Cubbing! Who better to talk to then the Cubs when we want to know why Cubbing Rocks? We spoke to Jonathan Green (9) from 1st Rosebank Cub Pack in the Western Cape.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is so much fun because you learn things you never knew before and you can help other people.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
The best experience was when I first came to the Cub meeting. It was really exciting but I was also a bit nervous.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
The weirdest thing I ate outdoors was a pine-cone seed. It was very squishy but had a really nice taste!
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge was when I first arrived at Cubs because I was so nervous and I didn’t know anyone. But now I have a lot of friends here and I am not nervous anymore!
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The most amazing place we visited was the OASIS Recycling Company we went to during our recycling camp.
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learnt how to tie knots and that there is an easy way to cook a marshmallow.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
I have cleaned the common next to our Scout hall so that it was a nice and clean place for other people.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum how to cook a marshmallow with paperclips.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is someone who is very kind, generous and has done Scouts for a long time.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because he takes us to amazing places.
