Cubbing allows parents and children to spend quality time together doing fun things. We spoke to Robert Kimble (11) from 2nd Boksburg Cub Pack in Gauteng about Cubbing with his mom.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is fun because I can be with my friends and we learn a lot of things.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
I love going to camps and making knots.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
I ate eyeballs!
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
One of the toughest challenges was taking the tents down after a camp. Another challenge is being a Sixer when the rest of the Six does not listen to you.
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
At Arrowe Park where we had one of our camps.
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learned the Scout Promise and Law, how to knot and the Grand Howl.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
We have done lots – we have visited a creche and have done dog rescue.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I can’t really teach my mom anything as she is the Akela!
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is kind and fun.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because she is my mom and I love her!
Cubbing Rocks because … I have lots of fun and at the same time I can be with my friends.
