This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. In South Africa we are celebrating through Group, District, Regional and National events. But, if we really want to know why Cubbing Rocks, who better to ask than the Cubs themselves….
We spoke to Monique Honicke (8) from 6th Benoni Cub Pack in Gauteng.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is fun because we play lots of games.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experience at Cubs was playing chocolate games.
SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
The weirdest thing I ate was an omelette.
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
My first time pulling a rope was the toughest challenge at Cubs.
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The most amazing place we visited with Cubs was Arrowe Park.
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learnt how to find north, how to put up a tent and also how to cook.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
With Cubs we planted trees and we also did some charity work at schools.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum to be helpful to others.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela has a funny personality.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is very special because she does fun stuff with us.
Cubbing Rocks because … we learn interesting stuff.
