Today is Mandela Day and people all over the country are doing a good deed. In Cubbing that is one of the main lessons children learn. They also learn how to explore and pray as Onthatile Modise (10) from 1st Isago Cub Pack in the Northern Cape explains.
SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Because we play games, go camping and we sing songs.
SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experiences are when I learn about things in the nature.
SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge for me was to memorize the Cub prayers.
SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
We went to visit the Big Hole and the Scout Center. I loved it there!
SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learnt how to read a compass and I also learnt the Cub prayers.
SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
We gave clothes to people in need.
SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum first aid.
SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is a person who respects other people.
SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because he listens to other people!
Cubbing Rocks because … we go to visit fun places!
